Nusach Hat'fillah ,the melodic modes for tefillah(prayer) have been handed down in a similar manner as family heirlooms. In common use, the word nusach has come to signify the entire liturgical tradition of a community, including the musical rendition, the melodic motifs for each service and even sections within a service.

At Congregation Adath Jeshurun, while some of our liturgy is unique and we maintain some Sephardic cuistoms (most notably the lifting of the Torah before it read), we closely follow the Ashkenazic tradition for the musical leading of traditional prayer services.  I will gladly work with anyone who wishes to become proficient as a service leader.  There are many oppportunities to use these skills.

The L2L (Learn to Lead) program, taught by Hazzan Glantz, seeks to give the learner the confidence and tools needed to be a service leader.  This includes the mp3's custom made for each service, and meeting with the Hazzan to perfect these skills.
